Show blog: Feb 12th

A much laid back show was in order, as it had been my birthday the night before……age comes to us all. I had a quiet birthday but you shouild have seen the outragous gifts I got from work collegues; to naughty for words. I played one or two brand new tracks inparticulat a debut singel from a SKA revival band called the Coverups, who have been touted as the new Madness with an Ian Dury edge.

Toofers, was back to the 90’s with two from Massive Attack; who had to drop the ‘attack’ part of their name during the nineties and this apprently was due to sesativity over the timing around the Gulf war.

My Comedy Pick
See Andy Parsons, at the Comedy Store on Tuesday 15th February. Andy Parsons will be joining the Comedy Store Players for a night of comedy improvisation at the Comedy Store. Other comedians on the bill include Paul Thorne, Martin Coyote, Steve Gribbin, Sean Meo and Alistair Barrie.

Live music suggestions…..
Mon 14 Feb. The Stowaways – 93 Feet East, Shoreditch. Acoustic indie, rock and electro acts perform.
Tue 15 Feb. The Bravery – Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London. Art-rockers from New York fronted by the aggressively sexy Sam Endicott. The American hipsters are profoundly influenced by the New Wave movement of the early eighties and became a cult music fan’s favourite when The Killers were enjoying their purple patch in 2005.
Wed 16 Feb. Edwyn Collins – O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Quirky pop rock from the Scottish born singer. The Ivor Novello winner received critical acclaim for his classic nineties singles such as ‘A Girl Like You’ and ‘Magic Piper of Love.
